Round 8: Magny Cours
Free practice results:
First session at 09:00 on a very cool autumn track, we decided not to push too much and wait wisely for the afternoon because the conditions will be much better.
Second session, the serious work begins. I ride a 1.43.4 on worn tyres - I feel good on the bike but points still to improve on.
I put on a new rear tyre to get into the 1.42’s but unfortunately I realize a rather disappointing run because I make a lot of mistakes and cannot put the right sectors end to end.
Session still positive, the pace is there and the feeling is good, tomorrow we will test new settings to improve.
FP3: P16 // 1.42.8 // + 3.1
Qualifying: P17 // 1.42.8 // +3.9
Good third free practice session where I post a 1.42.8 with a good general feeling on the bike but still points to fine tune.
Qualifying at 15:00, first run on used tires to get in the rhythm and validate the new settings, the behaviour and grip are good, it's time to move the new set of tires and give everything.
My first flying lap gives me a 1.42.8.
Second lap, first partial in advance and I get annoyed by a driver at low speed before returning to the booth.
Third lap (and last to be able to enjoy all the benefits of a new tire), very clean lap or I'm ahead at 2/3 of the circuit but I make a small mistake at two corners of the finish line that causes a small fall and the end of the session ...
So rather disappointed with this session where the pace was there but I have not managed to materialize.
Now concentrate for the race tomorrow at 11:40 am where I will start from 17th position.
Thanks to all Team Flembbo members for the hard work.
P16 // + 1min 07 // best lap 1.42.9
Good start where I manage to gain a few places and to impose myself in the first corner, I find myself in a group that rolls regularly in "small 42" but I cannot hang on. I find myself in battle for the second part race with another driver, the last lap is hot with many overtaking, and we arrive fairing against fairingsin the last chicane, which makes us leave the track and cross the finish line in the grass. The final pass is just a little bit later and so I have to settle for 16th position.
A little disappointed with the weekend where I missed 0.5seconds to be truly in the game.
I'm finishing this 2018 season of the European Superstock 1000 Championship at the 22nd position.
A huge thank you to ALL MEMBERS of Team Flembbo for their total involvement in these 17 races together.
